In a heartwarming reunion filled with nostalgia, gratitude, and impact, the 1975 Set of Baptist High School, Saki, returned to their beloved alma mater to celebrate a significant milestone—50 years since their graduation. The Golden Jubilee celebration was not only a time of reconnection but also a meaningful opportunity to give back to the institution that laid the foundation of their lives.
Free Medical Outreach – A Gift of Health
As part of the anniversary events, the Class of 1975 organized a free medical outreach on Thursday, June 26, 2025, for both staff and students of the school. The outreach featured:
* Comprehensive Eye Screenings and Distribution of Prescription Glasses
* Blood Sugar Testing
* Medical Consultation and Health Awareness
This initiative, carried out by health professionals among the alumni and their partners, was deeply appreciated by the school community. Many beneficiaries received much-needed care that might have otherwise been inaccessible.
Grand Finale – A Day of Celebration and Legacy
The grand finale of the celebration took place on Friday, June 27, 2025, bringing together a host of dignitaries and members of the Baptist High School Saki family. Notable attendees included:
* Deacon Sola Togunde, National President of the Old Students’ Association
* His Royal Highness, the Aare of Ago-Are
* Distinguished Members of the 1975 Set
* Current and former staff of the school
* Students and well-wishers
The day featured goodwill messages, cultural performances, and the presentation of gifts, all in a festive and reflective atmosphere.
Infrastructure Support – Investing in the School’s Future
In response to the school’s pressing needs, the 1975 set generously donated 60 brand-new computer tables (workstations) and refurbished 30 existing ones, directly supporting the school’s vision to transition to a fully ICT-driven learning environment.
In her remarks, the Principal of Baptist High School 1, Saki commended the set for their foresight and generosity:
“This donation meets one of our urgent needs as we prepare to shift to digital learning. Your contribution will benefit generations of students.”
Call for Further Support
In a passionate appeal during the ceremony, the President of the 1975 set urged other alumni sets to follow their lead, noting that while the furniture has been addressed, the computer laboratory is still lacking actual computers:
“We call on other graduating sets to join us in this noble cause by donating computers. Together, we can transform this school into a center of 21st-century education.”
Honoring the Past – A Token of Gratitude
In a deeply emotional moment, the 1975 set presented a cash gift to the school’s former driver, affectionately known as “Face Baba.” Their gesture recognized his dedication during their school days and was met with applause and smiles from all present.
This tribute reflected the set’s commitment to honoring not just the school, but every individual who contributed to their journey.
Words of Appreciation and Encouragement
Deacon Sola Togunde, the National President, praised the initiative:
“This gesture is a true testament to the values Baptist High School instilled in you all. You have inspired a new generation by showing that true success is measured by how much you give back.”
This is what true alumni spirit looks like. You have inspired a new generation by showing that success includes giving back. We are proud of you.”
He further encouraged current students to emulate their seniors and strive for excellence in academics, character, and service.
The Aare of Ago-Are also addressed the gathering, thanking the 1975 set for their thoughtful contributions and promising to support the school in due course.
“This school has shaped leaders, and the 1975 set has just shown us a brilliant example of leadership and gratitude. I am moved and will also consider a personal contribution to the school in due course.”
